The Plump Lips You’ve Always Wanted
Have you always wanted fuller lips but were scared of the results? Many women desire full lips however they are reluctant to have their lips filled or injected because the last thing they want are lips that look fake or done. Patients are fearful of the “duck lip” look. This is a valid concern; lip enhancement with fillers can be definitely overdone. The augmented look is usually noticeable and people can become self conscious about the appearance of their lips.
How do you achieve results that look and feel natural? Like everything else, there is an art to it. The lip is a unique structure and is made of different parts and boundaries. The filler material is injected in the different lip areas to highlight the signs of beauty while maintaining a natural shape. The best candidates are women who have a nice lip shape that is lacking volume. I have a conservative style with lips, especially with first timers, placing small amounts at a time until the individual is comfortable with the new look. It can be overwhelming if you’re not used to it!
The most commonly used filler material is hyaluronic acid hydrogel like Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus. The added volume is usually maintained for a few months and tends to last longer with subsequent injections. There could be mild bruising immediately after treatment. It is generally advised that you stop taking aspirin and non steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, for 7 to 10 days if you are considering a lip filler to minimize bruising.
The patient in the picture below had a lip injection with one vial (one milliliter) of Juvederm Ultra Plus. Notice the remarkable improvement in the volume of the lips while maintaining a very natural shape.
